Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work with CEO and CTO to develop and maintain a robust digital ecosystem for the company;
- Identify, recommend, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information;
- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts and account reconciliations;
- Identifying and managing business risks and insurance requirements;
- Manage the company’s liability insurance program, including ongoing risk analysis;
- Actively participate as a full member of the SLT;
- Oversee cash, investments, and asset management including managing cash flow planning process to ensure funds availability;
- Own third-party financing activities including debt and equity financing in partnership with CEO;
- Actively manage/oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization, outsourced and in-house;
- Directing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls;
- Actively engage with the Board of Directors as assigned by the CEO;
- Oversee the work of two members of the Business Office;
- Oversee the annual financial and 403b plan audits and filings of tax returns;
- Collaborate with the School’s counsel and insurance agents regarding all legal and risk management matters;
- Working with consultants and outside lenders in obtaining and managing commercial funding; monitoring compliance with loan covenants and ratios.
Requirements:
- Public company CFO experience;
- Experience in leading or being part of one or more IPOs;
- Demonstrated ability to be thoughtful and creative, while working towards meaningful impact;
- BS Degree in Accounting or Finance required, preference for CPA/ CMA candidates;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Ability to provide oversight of compliance and regulatory requirements pertaining to position;
- Has familiarity with capital markets, asset allocation and effective due diligence and knows non-for-profit accounting and tax related laws;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task;
- Effective leadership capabilities; able to mentor and coach team in area of responsibility and the achievement of organization goals;
- Provide for the care, custody, and management of corporate funds, including control of cash collections, bank accounts, and cash disbursements;
- Must be able to speak effectively in a public or group setting;
- Ability to work effectively as a team member;
- Must be able to travel within and outside organization region as job dictates;
- Ability to maintain contact with other organizations regarding accounting, tax, investment and human resource development;
