Our company is looking for a Director of Banquets to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining a high energy, positive, professional appearance;
  • Responsible for short and long term banquet functions in the front and back of the house;
  • Responsible for proactively reviewing staffing and equipment needs;
  • Ability to develop ideas for special events and holiday functions;
  • Responsible for ensuring coordination and execution of all events with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/CS, CS Floor and Beverage;
  • Evaluating and pre-planning, being prepared for large groups and special functions including holidays;
  • Hire staff, discipline staff, evaluate their performance and document all aspects of their employment;
  • Oversee maintenance of all banquet equipment, function spaces and cleanliness of all banquet areas;
  • Training programs both group and individual to stress service, safety and product knowledge;
  • Bi-monthly payroll including tip pool breakdown done accurately and on time;
  • Coordinate Supervisors and House Attendants with banquet needs such as food, banquet equipment, tables, chairs, etc;
  • Responsible for developing innovative and creative décor for Banquet function space;
  • Staff functions for optimum labor costs and maximum service. Write accurate schedules within designated staffing guidelines;
  • Maintain theme prop inventories and maintenance as well as any other equipment needs such as linen.

Requirements:

  • Hotel experience and a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service;
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Banquet Manager or 5 years as an Assistant required;
  • Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule;
  • Requires 2 or more years hospitality management experience;
  • A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast paced environment;
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge;
  • Union experience preferred, not required;
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills;
  • Candidates should be extremely creative, innovative, detail oriented and organized;
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays;
  • Must have a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Banquet or Event experience required;
  • Minimum of two years experience in Banquet Management/Director experience preferably in a 4 or 5 star resort or convention hotel;
  • Able to utilize payroll systems, good knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs;
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift and stand up to 8 hours.
