Director of Banquets Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Banquets to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining a high energy, positive, professional appearance;
- Responsible for short and long term banquet functions in the front and back of the house;
- Responsible for proactively reviewing staffing and equipment needs;
- Ability to develop ideas for special events and holiday functions;
- Responsible for ensuring coordination and execution of all events with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/CS, CS Floor and Beverage;
- Evaluating and pre-planning, being prepared for large groups and special functions including holidays;
- Hire staff, discipline staff, evaluate their performance and document all aspects of their employment;
- Oversee maintenance of all banquet equipment, function spaces and cleanliness of all banquet areas;
- Training programs both group and individual to stress service, safety and product knowledge;
- Bi-monthly payroll including tip pool breakdown done accurately and on time;
- Coordinate Supervisors and House Attendants with banquet needs such as food, banquet equipment, tables, chairs, etc;
- Responsible for developing innovative and creative décor for Banquet function space;
- Staff functions for optimum labor costs and maximum service. Write accurate schedules within designated staffing guidelines;
- Maintain theme prop inventories and maintenance as well as any other equipment needs such as linen.
Requirements:
- Hotel experience and a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service;
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Banquet Manager or 5 years as an Assistant required;
- Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule;
- Requires 2 or more years hospitality management experience;
- A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast paced environment;
- Must be proficient in general computer knowledge;
- Union experience preferred, not required;
- Refined verbal and written communication skills;
- Candidates should be extremely creative, innovative, detail oriented and organized;
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays;
- Must have a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays;
- Banquet or Event experience required;
- Minimum of two years experience in Banquet Management/Director experience preferably in a 4 or 5 star resort or convention hotel;
- Able to utilize payroll systems, good knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs;
- Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift and stand up to 8 hours.
