Our company is looking for a Director of Catering to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review Contracts and Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper pricing, quality and satisfaction;
  • Additional Responsibilities May include;
  • Performs special projects as requested;
  • Work closely with Catering Sales Manager to ensure proper use of function space, menu pricing etc. to maximize revenues;
  • Regularly attend Chamber of Commerce events in designated area/city;
  • Work closely with the Banquet Manager to ensure and maintain levels of service;
  • Maintaining effective relationships with clients and establishing new relationships;
  • Act as liaison to maintain effective lines of communication within and between all departments;
  • Work closely with Executive Chef in preparing menus for corporate and social functions. These menus need to be competitive to the area and unique;
  • Budgeting and forecasting food and beverage, room rental, and audio visual revenues for current month, 3 month, current end of year, and next year;
  • Work closely with Beverage Manager in determining banquet bar packages and wine lists that will maintain proper beverage costs;
  • Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards;
  • Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary;
  • Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference services. Works with client and customers to design events.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment, internet, telecommunication technology – helpful;
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet all business objectives including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, weekends, and evenings;
  • Knowledge of group, social and corporate catering is required;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Able to negotiate, organize, delegate & work under pressure;
  • Coaching and People Development Skills;
  • Knowledge of Delphi Sales and Catering Software;
  • High level of creativity with food and beverage menu proposals;
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities; must have prior experience leading and coaching a team of professionals;
  • Computer literacy to include MS Word, Excel, and ability to use e-mail and the Internet;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Ability to multitask;
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English required.
