Director of Development and Communications Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Development and Communications to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Managing all media and social media resources including the website and newsletter;
- Develop relationships with the local nonprofit and philanthropic community for informational exchange and support;
- Training board members and volunteers in communication and fundraising roles;
- Identify and build relationships with internal and external partners or key stakeholders to support programs and projects;
- Prepare regular reports that evaluate fundraising efforts, develop monthly progress reports;
- Works with the CEO to prepare an annual budget for resource development activities that include fundraising activities;
- Attend conferences, panels and networking events to build the organization’s presence regionally and nationally;
- Develop, implement and evaluate the annual communications and fundraising plan.
Requirements:
- Work independently on specific projects;
- A keen eye for detail, and an understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines;
- Effectively advocate for the mission of TTO;
- Ability to lead and motivate staff, build teamwork and create a culture of collaboration;
- Experience working closely with Board members to enhance and leverage the agency’s fundraising activities;
- Communicate effectively with donors and volunteers;
- A dedicated work ethic, including a desire to be a hands-on team member;
- HOURS: Full-Time. Some weekends and evenings required;
- At least 7 years of development experience;
- A strong desire to help improve the lives of the residents of the East Harlem community;
- A track record of effective organizational communication and media relations, including garnering print, broadcast and online coverage;
- Excellent computer skills. Microsoft Word and Excel experience required; Salesforce experience a plus;
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Master’s Degree in related field a plus;
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field;
- Prior experience in a fundraising and communications role.
