Director of Environmental Services Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Environmental Services to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulatory agencies;
- Train and schedule training including interpreting policies and procedures;
- Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary action required for Housekeeping staff;
- Ensure proper removal and disposal of trash;
- Communicate in a positive, caring, and helpful manner with residents, family members, and other staff;
- Accept on-call responsibilities as assigned by supervisor;
- Operate the Department within budget guidelines;
- Maintain an accurate accounting of services chargeable to Residents and submit to Office by designated date (monthly);
- Inspect buildings and grounds weekly and repair items identified as needing repair; replace light bulbs;
- Execute and maintain daily quality control systems;
- Receives and resolves employee complaints;
- Prepares performance evaluations;
- Manage all plant environmental compliance activities;
- Schedules, plans, assigns and directs work;
- Conduct air and water permitting activities with state agencies to facilitate the construction or modification of plant emission sources.
Requirements:
- Three to five years Multi-housing maintenance experience;
- Ability to troubleshoot appliances/plumbing/electrical/carpentry issues;
- 3-5 years of general building maintenance required, including knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, preventative and general repairs;
- Experience working with seniors in an Assisted Living preferred;
- Working knowledge of Life Safety Codes for Long Term Care and NFPA preferred;
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends, when necessary;
- Ability to work in all weather conditions;
- Must have current Boiler’s license;
- Ability to manage people and budgets;
- Working knowledge of basic computer applications;
- Experience working with seniors in a Skilled Nursing/Assisted Living setting preferred;
- High School diploma or equivalent and driver’s license required;
- 1-2 years previous supervisory experience in housekeeping and/or laundry preferred;
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult patients/residents;
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing, as well as verbally.
