Our company is looking for a Director of Environmental Services to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulatory agencies;
  • Train and schedule training including interpreting policies and procedures;
  • Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary action required for Housekeeping staff;
  • Ensure proper removal and disposal of trash;
  • Communicate in a positive, caring, and helpful manner with residents, family members, and other staff;
  • Accept on-call responsibilities as assigned by supervisor;
  • Operate the Department within budget guidelines;
  • Maintain an accurate accounting of services chargeable to Residents and submit to Office by designated date (monthly);
  • Inspect buildings and grounds weekly and repair items identified as needing repair; replace light bulbs;
  • Execute and maintain daily quality control systems;
  • Receives and resolves employee complaints;
  • Prepares performance evaluations;
  • Manage all plant environmental compliance activities;
  • Schedules, plans, assigns and directs work;
  • Conduct air and water permitting activities with state agencies to facilitate the construction or modification of plant emission sources.

Requirements:

  • Three to five years Multi-housing maintenance experience;
  • Ability to troubleshoot appliances/plumbing/electrical/carpentry issues;
  • 3-5 years of general building maintenance required, including knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, preventative and general repairs;
  • Experience working with seniors in an Assisted Living preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Life Safety Codes for Long Term Care and NFPA preferred;
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends, when necessary;
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions;
  • Must have current Boiler’s license;
  • Ability to manage people and budgets;
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications;
  • Experience working with seniors in a Skilled Nursing/Assisted Living setting preferred;
  • High School diploma or equivalent and driver’s license required;
  • 1-2 years previous supervisory experience in housekeeping and/or laundry preferred;
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult patients/residents;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing, as well as verbally.
