Director of Technology Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Technology to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Support process and control owners;
- Work with managers across all business unit functions to resolve risk issues as appropriate;
- Identify/provide tools to guide maintenance of controls;
- Provide expert support and advice to the business on risk identification and issue management;
- Ensure high-quality delivery for engineering across all projects, with a client-facing role and individual contributions where appropriate;
- Manage audit process, including coordinating with business unit team members, external auditors, consultants and the internal compliance / Audit team;
- Establish shared infrastructure across technical projects;
- Facilitate cross functional teams, facilitate project meetings, develop and maintain project plans and manage/support solution implementations;
- Proactively develop compliance and operational processes;
- Participate in leadership meetings to drive the direction of the company;
- Research emerging technologies to advise clients on possible applications;
- Conduct risk management/compliance training as needed;
- Lead the facilitation of risk assessments;
- Be responsible for the growth of the Engineering team – including individuals’ career growth, skillset development, and hiring the right resources;
- Lead by example, mentor the team and establish credibility through quality technical execution.
Requirements:
- Empathy for designers, developers & end-users;
- Ability to work collaboratively and assertively across teams;
- 3-4 years leading product or technical management organizations;
- Working knowledge of current web and service technologies (AWS, GCP, Reactjs preferred);
- Great verbal and written presentation abilities;
- Demonstrated success leading remote project teams;
- Ability to balance priorities from customers, suppliers and business owners in the overall Expedia travel space;
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required;
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred;
- Progressively responsible technology management experience in an ecommerce organization, including management of high-performing teams;
- Track record of delivering and operating large-sized internet-scale software systems.
