Hospice Medical Director Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Hospice Medical Director to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assure hospice patients are properly evaluated for recertification of terminal prognosis prior to the beginning of each new benefit period;
- Provide education and consultative assistance related to hospice and palliative care;
- 1 to 2 years of experience required;
- Coordinate new physician orientation, annual competency and performance/development review, quarterly development conversations;
- Management experience with direct reports preferred.
Requirements:
- Holds current Board Certification in a primary medical specialty. Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine Preferred;
- Hospice Medical Director Certification required within 2 (two) testing periods of employment;
- Prior experience as Hospice Physician or Hospice Medical Director, preferred;
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently within the service area;
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License;
- Must have 24-hour access to a motor vehicle and maintain personal automobile insurance coverage as defined by state law and/or company policy;
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and EMR system, preferred;
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance;
- Must be available for travel to local agencies as determined by the agency clinical leadership.
