Our company is looking for a Senior Director of Development to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and articulate the unique contributions of faculty in education, research, and service;
  • Establish goals in alignment with unit objectives, developing metrics and a strategic plan;
  • Effectively lead the unit’s advancement office by ensuring best practices in office systems, practices, files, and record keeping;
  • Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring solicitations to closure;
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with college administration and faculty through regular, consistent, and relevant communication;
  • Coordinate stewardship reports and activities for assigned prospects with appropriate members of the administration and faculty;
  • Serve as an advisor to the Dean and faculty on fundraising programs;
  • Provides support consistent with all aspects of determining project feasibility;
  • Actively engaging with owners, brokers, equity partners, lenders, and attorneys as appropriate;
  • Conducts analyses to address complex financial issues and determine financial deal viability;
  • Contributes to pipeline development, prepares written response to various request for proposals;
  • Responsible to construct, manipulate, and continuously modify Excel-based models to calculate returns including IRR, NPV, and cash returns;
  • Develops and delivers presentations for pipeline real estate projects to executive staff, board members, city officials, and the general public;
  • Creates leads real estate development activities;
  • Willingness to learn, demonstrate, and apply better methods of analyzing real estate transactions.

Requirements:

  • A strong team player with a history of working effectively on inter-disciplinary teams;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with board members, donors and volunteers;
  • Minimum of five years of professional development experience, including two years of department management experience;
  • A passionate commitment to serving at risk families;
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • Knowledge of the Chicago philanthropic community;
  • Results oriented with the ability to anticipate and overcome challenges, persevere and meet goals;
  • Demonstrated success with individual giving and major gifts;
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple complex activities;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Chestnut Hill College and the work necessary for successful results;
  • 10 years’ experience in fundraising, with significant experience in higher education, preferably in annual giving, major gifts and stewardship;
  • Evening and weekend work is required;
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proven understanding of the moves management process and demonstrated success cultivating and soliciting donors.
