Our company is looking for a Assistant Editor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Correcting minor grammatical/spelling errors;
  • Summarize data: The SE will summarize audited data to identify themes and patterns in the audit;
  • Ensuring acronyms are spelled out only on first occurrence and that they are correctly defined in the document’s acronym list;
  • Human evaluation: The SE will verify the accuracy and relevance of our Search information;
  • Applying template styles to text and tables;
  • Achieve a 90% yearly utilization rate;
  • Captioning figures, tables, and appendixes, and photographs and inserting cross-references;
  • Interact with editors and producers to fulfill needed asset preparation for filming or use within the episode;
  • Review footage and pull video stills for marketing/promotional use;
  • Assists with ingesting and transcoding media to the shared storage servers;
  • Suggest ways to improve post-production value and streamline processes;
  • Create graphic assets such as title cards and lower thirds from stock files;
  • Overall assistance with Post department responsibilities and tasks;
  • Store all project files systematically based on electronic files storage guidelines;
  • Coordinate, create, and QC final episode deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Experience with various file transfer methods such as FTP, Aspera, Dropbox, PIX, Wiredrive;
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder;
  • Awareness of YouTube culture, and internet culture, memes, vernacular, etc;
  • Experience as an Assistant Editor within a 5+ person post team;
  • Creativity/Innovation: Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Media Encoder, as well as a basic understanding of After Effects;
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to generate and maintain spreadsheets to track data, assets and workflow for various projects;
  • Has the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines;
  • Mnimum of 3 years of college course work in English, Literature, Marketing, and/or Social Sciences;
  • Prior experience as a DIT or with graphic design is a huge plus;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities;
  • Experience as an Assistant Editor on long form (series, feature, or documentary) projects;
  • Contributions to school-based or professional publications.
