Sign language interpreters facilitate communication between people who are deaf or hard of hearing and people who can hear. Sign language interpreters must be fluent in English and in American Sign Language (ASL), which combines signing, finger spelling, and specific body language. ASL is a separate language from English and has its own grammar.

Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of technical and human resource vocabulary;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Strong understanding of ASL and Deaf culture;
  • Ability to work within a changing schedule;
  • Active or eligible Sign Language license for Georgia;
  • Strong signing and voicing skills;
  • National sign language interpreter certification;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Passing EIPA score or RID certification;
  • Available to start within 1-2 weeks;
  • Bachelor’s Level Degree;
  • Working in a school system preferred;
  • Active or eligible SLI license for Georgia.
