The Bank Teller I records all transactions and prepares daily settlements of teller cash and proofs transactions according to branch procedures. Processes a variety of routine financial transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. Being a Bank Teller I follows all required security procedures and policies. Greets customers, delivers prompt and efficient service and provides information about bank products and services. In addition, Bank Teller I may provide other services including issuing money orders, cashiers’ and travelers’ checks, and exchanging foreign currency. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to head teller. Being a Bank Teller I possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately conducting and maintaining records of all credit and debit transactions;
  • Conducting all credit and debit transactions in compliance with established bank policies and procedures;
  • Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulatory requirements;
  • Assisting customers with customer service issues and account maintenance;
  • Accepting loan and credit card payments;
  • Cash checks: verify endorsement, check for proper identification and ensure validity of check;
  • Processing incoming/outgoing wire transfers;
  • Representing the Bank in a courteous, professional manner, being alert to customers’ questions and proactively greeting customers;
  • Accepting savings deposits and withdrawals;
  • Applying technical skills through the operation of computerized systems to enter customers’ transactions;
  • Cashing checks for customers;
  • Assisting with daily bookkeeping operations of the bank, large items, Fed returns, NSF items and the balancing of various general ledger accounts;
  • Maintaining proper cash on hand and preparing daily settlement of teller cash and proof transactions;
  • Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue payment receipt;
  • Processing night deposits.
