Design Intern Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Design Intern to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the full design cycle – from research to ideation through execution;
- Collaborate with our Design Director and Product Lead as well as our Engineering team;
- Adhere to our brand guidelines;
- Iterate based on user and internal feedback;
- Design beautiful, organized landing pages, ads, sales materials and collateral;
- Contribute and utilize our design system;
- Work as a team member;
- Perform under pressure and a fast-paced work environment;
- Create designs across a variety of media based on creative briefing from the account team and designers;
- Multitask between clients and projects rapidly;
- Learn to become familiar with the needs of multiple brands and be able to design to varying specifications based on individual client needs;
- Logo & graphic element design for email, print collateral, & product packaging;
- Resize and reformat existing creative as needed;
- Present and substantiate all creative work to internal teams including logos, visual identities and systems;
- Participate in new business efforts as requested.
Requirements:
- Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite;
- Outstanding organizational skills;
- Ability to speak in front of a group and lead conversation;
- Strong knowledge of design fundamentals such as layout and typography;
- Ability to take and give constructive criticism without ego or personal attachment;
- Capacity to lead or operate with a certain level of self-sufficiency when necessary;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Strong knowledge of typography, layout, color sense and the latest design tools including PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator;
- Solid interpersonal capabilities along with superlative verbal, visual and written communication skills;
- Recently completed BFA degree program or currently enrolled in MFA program with the ability to work 40 – 50 hours per week;
- Ability to clearly explain and write about design issues and dynamically present ideas to senior management and public groups;
- Baseline understanding of design methodologies, user-experience/interface design, information design, and corporate identity/branding.
