Front Office Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Front Office Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Check and respond to voicemails and emails left for the office;
- Assist with other office duties as requested or needed;
- Responding to patient billing or financial inquiries, directing to appropriate departments, as necessary;
- Support the front desk staff members by fulfilling patient care responsibilities;
- Calculate fees for dental treatment;
- Coordinate financial agreements for the patient’s financial responsibility of dental treatment;
- Greet and check in patients in a friendly manner;
- Assist patients with understanding and accepting their clinical diagnosis;
- Maintain a full schedule of patients daily;
- Enters data accurately for patient visits and fees in EMR/EHR to increase accuracy and efficiency of claims process;
- Adheres to all money handling procedures, collecting co-pays and other patient payments;
- Collects health plan authorization, insurance cards with picture ID’s, completes appropriate forms and obtains signatures per PPGP policy;
- All job responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of agency policies and procedures;
- Accepts and uses supervision, direction and consultation to maximize available resources in the completion of work duties;
- Screens financial, medical and social history with correct documentation of patient information.
Requirements:
- Ability to type 45 words per minute;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service;
- Basic proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- One year prior front office or clerical experience;
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows;
- High school graduate or GED;
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- One to three years prior, relevant work experience in a clinic or health facility preferred;
- Weekend availability required;
- Associate’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field preferred;
- Experience with electronic medical records systems preferred; prior working knowledge of NextGen system preferred.
