Laundry Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Laundry Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Washes and dries linen and other clothing;
- Delivers linen and clothing to designated areas;
- Keeps the laundry in a clean and sanitary condition;
- Ensures that all patient clothing is properly identified;
- Reports loss and damage of linen or patient clothing to supervisor;
- Folds and stores linen and clothing properly;
- Wipes and sanitizes equipment, carts and surfaces; vacuums, sweeps and wet mops floors;
- Weighs soiled linen to ensure correct amount of linen is loaded into the washers;
- Feeds linen into the flat iron or small piece folder;
- Loads and unloads washers and dryers;
- Wraps table linen using industrial wrapping equipment;
- Empties dryer lint traps as needed;
- Prepares linen for delivery;
- Stands and folds linen by hand;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience in a health care setting;
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information;
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action;
- Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures;
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc;
- Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department;
- Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation;
- Prior health care experience preferred;
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred;
- Ability to communicate, comprehend, understand and write messages, and follow directions;
- Must be able to operate dryers and washers and fold and hang linen and clothing;
- Ability to perform as a team player, and get along with all other employees;
- Requires frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, kneeling, etc;
- Prior laundry experience preferred, prior healthcare experience also preferred;
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
