Litigation Secretary Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Litigation Secretary to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating lawyers’ calendar and case docket;
- Transcribing, drafting, updating and finalizing pleadings for federal and state court filings;
- Preparing trial notebooks, witness books, subpoenas, orders, exhibits and other materials related to litigation filings;
- Preparing and maintaining client and office files;
- Proofreading of all work, which includes reading documents for content and context;
- Making travel arrangements, including air and ground transportation as well as hotel reservations;
- Create TOC/TOAs;
- Coordinate schedules and manage attorney’s calendar;
- File and e-file with State and Federal Courts;
- Prepare discovery and draft pleadings;
- Manage client documents and prepare expense reports.
Requirements:
- Exceptional secretarial skills including typing, proof reading, spelling and grammar;
- TOCs/TOAs;
- Word 2010;
- Legal Solutions;
- Must display a professional manner with clients, lawyers, paralegals and other staff members;
- Knowledge of court and law office litigation rules and procedures;
- Ability to take initiative when handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done;
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and use own judgment in decision making on how to adequately and efficiently meet all deadlines;
- Knowledge of Toxic Tort law is a plus;
- Time and Billing;
- Requires a minimum of 5 years litigation legal secretary experience, preferably with a large sized law or professional firm;
- iManage;
- 5+ years of experience;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
