Materials Planner I reviews blueprints and product specifications to accurately determine amount of materials needed. Documents overall material need, including all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders. Being a Materials Planner I adjusts amounts for existing inventory and for orders of conventional sizes. Requires ability to understand engineering documents and work closely with members of the engineering team. Additionally, Materials Planner I requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Materials Planner I works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Our company is looking for a Material Planner to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels in accordance with the department goals and objectives;
  • Make sure that material requirements and shortages are fulfilled to meet production and shipment requirements;
  • Work on process improvement projects company wide;
  • Level-load production as required to address bottlenecks;
  • Review, release and interpret forecast information to assigned vendor base;
  • Lead capacity evaluation and proactively communicate capacity bottlenecks to Production Management;
  • Maintain safety stock and adequate levels of inventory available at warehouse to support mass production assembly;
  • Review and maintain SAP data integrity inclusive of routings and bill of material accuracy;
  • Problem solving techniques to include Kaizen focus;
  • The This role is based in Plainfield, IL and reports to the Bulk Planning/Ingredients Management based in Plainfield, IL;
  • Review of backorders and issuance of Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notice to vendor base;
  • Work with Supply Planning and Project Implementation Management (PIM) teams to manage raw and package;
  • Monitors procurement activity and communicates status to appropriate parties;
  • Understand Customer Order Management policies, procedures and metrics;
  • Maintain accurate records of all internal and external interactions in the appropriate database/system.

Requirements:

  • Must leverage good communication, analytical and PC skills with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively;
  • SAP or other MRP/ERP systems experience is strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in supply chain planning;
  • Clear understanding and experience with Microsoft Windows applications;
  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization;
  • Should be independent, self-starter and require minimal supervision;
  • Considerable knowledge of manufacturing and production, forecasting and inventory management procedures;
  • Knowledgeable in the usage and tracking of government/customer furnished material;
  • 3+ years of experience in a planning/purchasing environment, with progressively increasing responsibilities;
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable functional discipline from an accredited university;
  • Knowledge and use of APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) practices will be looked upon favourably;
  • Understands manufacturing processes and be mechanically inclined;
  • Ability to read machining drawing a must;
  • Domestic and international travel is required;
  • Effective analytical, written and oral communication, negotiating skills a must.
