Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor supervises a mechanical maintenance crew involved in the maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment and systems. Implements and sets priorities for the preventive maintenance program which includes greasing and lubricating, replacing filters in air and hydraulic systems, changing belts or drive equipment, checking product handling equipment for wear or damage, inspecting crane cables and hooks and checking hydraulic and pneumatic systems for spills or leaks. Being a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor selects, trains, evaluates, disciplines, motivates and ensures safety of the mechanical maintenance team. Monitors employee compliance with safety procedures. Additionally, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of unit/department. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.

Our company is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide preventive and predictive maintenance of the mechanical systems; conduct daily rounds and readings;
  • Performs other duties as assigned;
  • Responsible for station lockout/tagout procedures as mandated by company policy;
  • Lead and/or participate in a work party in performing maintenance or repair work;
  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul equipment.

Requirements:

  • Must be a team player and work well with internal and external customers;
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively both in person and on the telephone;
  • Ability to use other office equipment i.e., fax machines, copiers, calculator, etc;
  • Knowledge of Mechanical systems with respect to rotating and fixed equipment is required; Electrical knowledge a plus;
  • Must be familiar with NDT methods and be able to interpret vibration and oil analysis reports;
  • Some CMMS platform (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards or similar) is required;
  • Scheduling, planning, and SAP or similar inventory and PM program is a plus but not required;
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence;
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office are required.
