Shipping Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Shipping Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Complete performance evaluations and perform continuous performance feedback to include disciplinary actions when needed;
- Ensure data integrity within company enterprise systems such as TMC and SAP;
- Continuously measure/monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when needed;
- Interact with other supervisors, operators, engineers, management, maintenance, and customers;
- Oversee all shipping department activities;
- Coordinate shipments and maintain/foster a cohesive working relationship with carriers;
- Provide ongoing shift leadership to plant warehousing/shipping employees to ensure quality and delivery performance for the plant;
- Knowledge of production scheduling, safety, housekeeping, and warehousing requirements;
- Develop goals for continuous improvement;
- Ensure inventory accuracy and focus on maintaining and improving operating efficiencies to include employee productivity;
- Verify content for shipment;
- Comply with legal regulations and company policy;
- Work with other departments of the warehouse to complete all objectives;
- Ensure the timely, accurate and secure shipping and distribution;
- Lead and manage shipment staff.
Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours as required to support the Company’s operations and business objectives;
- SAP system experience;
- Skills in completion of International shipments;
- Retail fulfillment/consumer electronics warehouse experience;
- Proven experience as shipping manager;
- Two year of experience in a shipping/receiving role;
- May require frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members;
- Physical ability to frequently lift and carry 50 lbs. and to occasionally lift up to 90 lbs;
- Ability to drive a Forklift;
- Knowledge of shipping document preparation;
- High school diploma, BS or BA in Supply chain, logistics or relative field is a plus;
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Availability for international travel;
- Management Ability;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
