Sr. Payroll Specialist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr. Payroll Specialist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Support HR team with employee data reporting related to internal and external audits, compliance reporting and tax incentive programs;
- Set-up and manage taxation and related withholdings and remittances for incoming and outgoing Methanex assignees;
- Assist in the maintenance of the ADP general ledger interface configuration;
- Contribute to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA Services LLC as an effective member of the Human Resources department;
- Complete all post payroll processes to ensure the timely and accurate completion of the payroll cycle;
- Process accurate recordation of payroll deductions of the Employee Share Purchase Plan, 401K program, and other special benefits programs;
- Complete timely delivery of accurate timesheet and other data to the Payroll Provider, ADP;
- Serves as a fully trained back-up to both Payroll Lead and Payroll Coordinator;
- Keep up-to-date with current USA Human Resources legislation, practices and trends as it relates to payroll and benefits administration;
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in processing employee payments and employee status changes;
- Provide timely and accurate payroll processing for payroll processings;
- Maintain up to date knowledge of tax and compensation reporting requirements to maintain compliance with the law;
- Initiate and implement process improvements to ensure efficiencies in data recall;
- Maintain an in depth knowledge of the company payroll and employment related policies;
- Support for the other members of the HR team provided as required.
Requirements:
- Experience with global payroll provider (ADP) preferred to support future growth initiatives;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related field, or relevant experience;
- 10 or more years of experience of multi-state US payroll/payroll tax filing and garnishment processing;
- Experience with processing in-house payroll;
- A minimum of seven years experience in comprehensive payroll processing;
- High level analytical skills;
- Advanced MS Office application knowledge including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Knowledge and experience with Workday preferred;
- Flexible and adaptable;
- High level of interpersonal skills (communication, listening and reliability);
- Good public relations skills to interface with both internal and external customers;
- Advanced time management, planning and organizational skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work well under pressure;
- Pro-active in identifying opportunities to improve team or process efficiency.
