Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machine for the process. Additionally, Machinist III may provide training to lower level machinists. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Machinist III has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Our company is looking for a Machinist III to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to routed hours and target efficiencies for production;
- Ensure all manufacturing safety and regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times;
- Be an active resource in time studies to analyze processes and validate recommended process changes;
- Machine prototype parts on request;
- Provide training for other operators when required;
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics (geometry, trigonometry) and part drawings;
- Test cut / dry run CNC programs prior to production runs;
- Actively champion and maintain a culture of 5S (Sort, Set and Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) in the machine shop;
- Read and interpret blueprints in both imperial and metric standards.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in low volume – high mix production;
- 15 years of experience operating a mix of manual, semi-automatic, and CNC machine tools in a fast paced work environment including;
- At least 10 years of CNC machining experience;
- At least 5 years of manual machining experience.
