Senior Automation Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Define system improvements to ensure maximum system uptime and performance;
- Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk & ControlLogix PLC Platforms;
- Serve as Emerson DeltaV SME providing Automation Support for new and existing Biopharmaceutical manufacturing process trains;
- Automation process improvement and maintenance;
- Addressing other important matters for completing the company’s leadership objectives;
- Participates in audits and training programs in the area of responsibility;
- Designing solutions to ensure the quality and stability of automation systems through future expansions, replacements, or upgrades;
- Provide support to Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLCs, Building Automaton System, Servers, LAN, data historians, etc;
- Ensuring that the system is in conformity with the standards and the associated technical documentation;
- Understand and support all current Good Manufacturing Principles, safety, and environmental regulations;
- Complete Release Management tasks for assigned modules, or as directed by QA Manager;
- Providing leadership for automation upgrades and new installation projects;
- Serve an active role for the implementation of Syncade MES, Electronic Batch Records and the overall digital transformation of the site;
- Modernization of logical control systems for plant equipment, facilities and processes to improve efficiency, product quality and working conditions;
- On the floor troubleshooting support of manufacturing activities.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of web, mobile, API and database testing technologies;
- Must include hands-on programming and trouble-shooting skills for Automation, Instrumentation and IT systems;
- Strong hands-on experience in the implementation of various automated testing solutions including Selenium, Cucumber, SoapUI, Postman and LoadRunner;
- Document requirements and manual tests as needed in support of test automation;
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related technological field or 9 years of relevant work experience, or;
- Lead the team and set the strategic direction for Test Automation for the IT Quality Assurance team;
- Electrical Engineer or Chemical Engineer;
- Proficient with Emerson DeltaV,
- Work with engineers to define and implement mechanisms to inject testing earlier into the software development process;
- Experience with SCADA/PLC systems such as Rockwell Factory Talk/RSLogix;
- Strong market insight and resilience, good customer communication skills and written communication skills;
- Working with QA team members and leadership, develop a road map for test automation;
- Experienced in establishment of safe practices in a CGMP environment;
- Track and communicate test results in a timely, effective, and automated manner;
- Strong organizational skills.
