Merchandise Allocator Job Description

Merchandise Allocator allocates merchandise to stores according to warehouse and store inventory levels. Will assist stores with merchandise transfers to fulfill stock needs. Being a Merchandise Allocator may require a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Allocator typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Our company is looking for a Merchandise Allocator to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve delivery and receiving issues by working with the buyers, distribution centers and stores to ensure proper inventory is allocated to stores;
  • Ensure that proper inventory levels are allocated to supply new store openings;
  • Execute the release of merchandise inventory from the distribution centers to supply stores for retail sales;
  • Develop allocation strategies for specific plan levels and execute physical allocations;
  • Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned;
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on sales trend, forecast and store size;
  • Collaborate with the buying team and distribution centers on incoming and outgoing merchandise deals;
  • Build strong relationships with DC inbound, DC outbound, stores and District Team Leaders;
  • Develop knowledge of store attribute performance and trends through data analysis and field communication.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical prioritizing, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction in a fast paced work environment;
  • Ability to grip, reach, and pinch with arms and hands frequently;
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong working relationships with others;
  • Ability to remain in a normal seated position regularly;
  • Ability to bend and twist occasionally;
  • Accuracy/attention to detail;
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and internet application; such as JDA and ARTHUR;
  • 1+ years of retail experience in merchandising or distribution.
