Outside Sales Representative Job Description

Outside sales representatives spend much of their time traveling to and visiting with current clients and prospective buyers. During a sales call, they discuss the client’s needs and suggest how they can meet those needs with merchandise or services. They may show samples or catalogs that describe items their company provides, and they may inform customers about the prices and availability of the products they are selling and the ways in which their products can save money and boost productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Generating revenue and meeting sales targets;
  • Develop product knowledge of current and new inventory;
  • Providing product quotes to customers as needed;
  • Effectively attending conferences and trade shows, where applicable;
  • Continuously updating all prospects on company product modifications, changes, and enhancements;
  • Managing existing accounts;
  • Daily Prospecting in assigned territory;
  • Maintain current clients while continuing to up-sell on new and future products;
  • Prepare weekly sales activity reports showing sales calls, sales volume, potential sales, closed deals & closing percentage;
  • Customer Mining;
  • Be adept at qualifying sales leads, making effective sales presentations and managing customer relationships throughout a proven sales process;
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services;
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships;
  • Meet each potential customers needs with a presentation tailored to their wants and needs;
  • Work closely with Oregon representatives and Sales Director.

Requirements:

  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Previous EQUIPMENT RENTAL OR CONSTRUCTION sales experienced required;
  • Prior large scales sales experience or commercial roofing experience;
  • Experience in a position that deals directly with customers (front-line);
  • Comfortable working autonomously;
  • Self motivation and driven to succeed. – Working independently;
  • Must exhibit superior prospecting, presentation and closing skills;
  • Ability to effectively give presentations and business reviews to management;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to manage difficult relationship situations;
  • Must be willing and able to drive a company car and travel within assigned territory;
  • Proficient with general office applications;
  • Personal drive and internal motivation toward high achievement;
  • Self motivated and personable with a sense of urgency and an extroverted personality;
  • Excellent Computer Skills.
