Our company is looking for a Patient Access Representative to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides counseling to patient, participant or their representative regarding pre-service requirements and instructions;
  • Performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration;
  • Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization;
  • Performs other duties as assigned;
  • Answering phones in a friendly, helpful and welcoming manner, within SSM Health Standards;
  • Closing each encounter in a friendly, helpful manner;
  • Registering new patients, completely and accurately;
  • Assisting patients in scheduling an appointment that meets their needs;
  • Collecting Co-payments at the time of service;
  • Demonstrating a resourceful nature and actions when patients and/or internal customers have questions;
  • Verifying demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate;
  • Greeting patients immediately, in a friendly, helpful and welcoming manner;
  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients which establish a positive first impression.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Understanding of Compliance standards preferred;
  • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm;
  • One year pre-registration, registration, admitting, or customer service experience;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Performs required pre-certification and deposit collection;
  • Revises, adds and updates pertinent patient demographic and financial information in accordance to hospital policy and department procedure;
  • Ability to utilize computers and utilize various programs;
  • Maintains good relations with all parties and respects patient’s right to privacy;
  • Notifies patients or family members of any insurance coverage issues that may result in coverage reductions;
  • Obtains all required documents and signatures;
  • Prior experience obtaining pharmacy and clinical authorizations preferred;
  • Medical Terminology;
  • Familiarization with medical terminology and prior healthcare experience preferred.
