Class B CDL Driver Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Class B CDL Driver to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Make safety a priority at all times;
- Track and report working hours;
- Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times;
- Pick-up loads and organizes truck in an ordered, logical manner;
- Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients;
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries;
- Communicate with dispatch as needed;
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions;
- Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations;
- Perform inspections of your vehicle before and following each trip;
- Collect COD balances if required;
- Pre-inspect load is properly secured in truck;
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs;
- Review truck route manifest with dispatcher prior to daily departure;
- Report any incidents or injuries immediately to dispatcher.
Requirements:
- Physically and mentally fit;
- High level of composure and proper stress management;
- Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license required;
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented;
- Skilled at driving large vehicles;
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems;
- 3+ years proven experience with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs;
- Good sense of direction (N,W,E,S);
- Commitment to company values;
- Local delivery experience preferred;
- Must be able to pass all qualifications as set forth in Department of Transportation regulations, along with Ahern Rentals regulations;
- 3 or less recorded moving violations or 1 accident and 1 moving violation within a 36 month period;
- Computer knowledge;
- 21+ years old;
- Must pass background check.
