Crane Operator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Crane Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance;
- Wears safety equipment;
- Drive trucks to worksites and unload trucks;
- May operate crane according to signals from oiler or helper may bolt, pin boom sections together to modify boom lengths;
- Truck mounted operators – operate gasoline or diesel powered crane mounted on truck type chassis, to lift material, objects or personnel into place;
- Use of demolition tools: jack hammer, air tools, sledge hammer, etc;
- Operate hydraulic, lattice boom or tower cranes;
- Placing concrete from a truck, pump, bucket, buggy, conveyor, etc;
- Promotes the values and practices of the Company, and works within a team environment;
- Accurately and thoroughly performs the job;
- Comply with Pacific Drilling Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards, and applicable process documentation;
- Ensure proper Permitting/TRA for all non-routine tasks, working at heights or work over water;
- Carry out Preventive Maintenance tasks on the cranes and other related components or equipment. Maintain detailed log of all maintenance records;
- Provide Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and forthcoming operations;
- Maintain an inventory of all slings and lifting equipment in use. Advise the Toolpusher/Chief Mate of damaged slings and any new requirements.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of Crane Operating Experience;
- TSC Certification required;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as offshore crane operator on a floating unit;
- NOV Knuckle boom crane experience;
- Skilled in use of computer/laptop or other supporting devices to commensurate with program and job applications;
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment;
- Knowledge of proper equipment use conducive to conditions and assignment;
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA rules and standards;
- NCCCO Certification for hydraulic cranes up to 100 tons required;
- Must be willing to travel 75% of the time;
- Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. Depth perception required;
- Required: Commercial Drivers License A;
- Knowledge of crane operators (boom, mobile, tower, overhead, articulating, etc.) and other heavy civil construction equipment functions and operations;
- NCCCO Certification for Lattice-Boom Crawler Cranes up to 120 tons is strongly preferred.
