Local CDL Class A Truck Driver Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Local CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Drive trucks to transport materials and equipment to specific route destinations;
- Backing in and out of docks;
- Reporting maintenance/repair issues on tractors and trailers;
- Touch freight – unloading using pallet-jack and/or hand-cart;
- Checking mechanical aspects of the vehicle.
Requirements:
- Be in excellent physical condition and be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, lift, push, pull for extended periods and have normal use of senses;
- Able to work in all types of environments and under difficult conditions; hot, cold, dust, indoors, outdoors;
- Be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 pounds with no assistance;
- Must be flexible with work schedule; some mandatory OT on weekends;
- Hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver´s License, with air brakes endorsement and prior verifiable experience and references;
- Current DOT Medical Card and be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug and criminal background screen;
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S;
- Class A CDL with Interstate Certification as well as Haz-Mat & Tanker endorsements;
- Clean MVR;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- 2 years tractor trailer driving experience, 6 mo tanker experience preferred;
- Pass DOT physical, drug test & criminal background check;
- Experience with local, multiple-stop deliveries: foodservice, beverage delivery, LTL, etc;
- Experience with drop & hook, no touch required.
