Pilot Job Description

Pilots guide ships in harbors, on rivers, and on other confined waterways. They are not part of a ship’s crew but go aboard a ship to guide it through a particular waterway that they are familiar with. They work in places where a high degree of familiarity with local tides, currents, and hazards is needed. Some, called harbor pilots , work for ports and help many ships that come into the harbor during the day. When coming into a commercial port, a captain will often have to turn control of the vessel over to a pilot, who can safely guide it into the harbor. Pilots typically do the following:

Our company is looking for a Pilot to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally in an office environment;
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals;
  • Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;
  • Occasionally exposed to non-toxic propane fumes or airborne particles;
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools and small to medium-sized power tool use;
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock;
  • Accept responsibility for checking aircraft, preflight, post flight and briefing of all crew members daily;
  • Responsible for keeping all certificates current: pilot, medical, flight instructor if applicable, ratings, etc…
  • Operate aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the appropriate Rotorcraft Flight Manual,
  • Comply with FAA Regulations, Company Operations Manual(s) and any state, municipal and any domestic or foreign government regulations that may apply;
  • Accept duty only when in compliance with flight and duty time regulations and maintain a rested and medically fit condition;
  • Additional duties as assigned;
  • Maintain a logbook or other reliable record in accordance with FAR 61.51 to show recent flight experience requirements;
  • Responsible for the overall safety of his passengers and crew;
  • Work with customers to provide courteous, efficient, reliable and safe service.
