Senior Traffic Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing conceptual street/intersection designs for urban and airport landside environments;
- Participating in local Professional Associations;
- Writing reports for internal and external purposes;
- Performing traffic impact analysis/studies as part of the environmental review process;
- Signal timing analysis and implementation/fine tuning using MaxTime and ATSPM;
- Traffic forecasting/projections;
- Signal operations evaluation and recommendations;
- Details and special provisions development;
- Technical report/traffic study preparation;
- Presenting technical material in innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences;
- Traffic signal and signing/pavement marking design;
- Understanding trends and best practices in transportation and urban planning;
- Performing analyses using a variety of traffic modeling software and other analytical tools;
- Providing project management support and communicating directly with clients with regard to technical requirements and deliverables;
- ITS design, including fiber/wireless communications and devices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or similar field of study;
- 5+ Years of Management Experience;
- Professional Engineer (PE) license;
- Familiarity with California planning laws and development entitlement processes: CEQA, EIR, TIAs, etc;
- 15+ years of traffic engineering experience;
- Well-rounded in Analysis, Modeling, and Design;
- Experience in data analytics, advanced spreadsheet functionality (e.g. Formulas and functions, pivot tables, basic scripting);
- Experienced working with DDOT and VDOT;
- Familiarity with US planning and engineering practices.
