Traffic Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Traffic Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Clearly communicate work through drawings, documents, reports, and verbal exchange;
- Design ITS, traffic signal, and lighting systems;
- Design signing, striping, and safety improvements for urban streets, rural highways, and interstates;
- Working closely with a technical team of CV/AV and traffic engineering professionals nationwide;
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings;
- Data analytics design and execution, including the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques;
- Transportation Operations Centers;
- Construction traffic control plans;
- Intelligent Transportation Systems design, analysis, and evaluation;
- Traffic Engineering Studies including modeling and simulation;
- Leading a variety of technical tasks under the guidance of an experienced Project Manager for projects including;
- Systems engineering documentation;
- Connected vehicle DSRC or C-V2X device and system testing and acceptance;
- Advanced traffic signal systems;
- ITS design.
Requirements:
- Experience using Bentley and Autodesk design software;
- Professional License in Nevada or ability to obtain Nevada PE within one year of hire;
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering;
- Experience with traffic analysis, microsimulation, and forecast modeling software;
- Design-Build Experience preferred;
- 3-8 years of traffic/transportation engineering experience;
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Experience with VISSIM and Citilabs software preferred;
- Solid written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Working knowledge of MnDOT design and development;
- 4+ years of experience as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer;
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
- P roficient with SYNCHRO, SIMTraffic, CORSIM, and SignCADD is preferred;
- Proficient with SYNCHRO, SIMTraffic, CORSIM, and SignCADD is preferred.
