      <h3 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#1c7ebc\">Responsibilities:<\/h3>\n    \n\n    \n        <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Additional duties as assigned;<\/li><li>Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of business applications and in-house systems to help scale the company;<\/li><li>Write efficient, maintainable code;<\/li><li>Hold your own in technical discussion, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence;<\/li><li>Work closely with product management and UX design teams to define and refine feature specifications;<\/li><li>Create unit tests and maintain codebase;<\/li><li>Debug complex problems, performance bottlenecks, scale issues;<\/li><li>Work cross-functionally to scope, design, and implement services;<\/li><li>Create a public API to provide external hooks for tournaments and more;<\/li><li>Help with DevOps and rolling out systems across multiple regions;<\/li><li>Work on the customer facing CI\/CD pipeline;<\/li><li>Design services for better observability, availability, and fault tolerance;<\/li><li>Design and implement new backend systems which power Joy websites and apps;<\/li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and issues across the stack, e.g. a stuck job in a message queue, a bug in our recipient suggestions service;<\/li><li>Work with support to address frequent customer issues.<\/li><\/ul>\n    \n    \n    \n        <h3 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#1c7ebc\">Requirements:<\/h3>\n    \n\n    \n        <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Understanding of application architecture and object-oriented design;<\/li><li>Experience coding and mastery in Java;<\/li><li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience;<\/li><li>Strong Computer Science fundamentals in software systems design, algorithms, and data structures;<\/li><li>3+ years of professional software engineering experience;<\/li><li>6+ years of programming experience;<\/li><li>Experience with developing complex software systems scaling to millions of users with production quality deployment, monitoring, and reliability;<\/li><li>2+ years of industry experience working on backend services;<\/li><li>Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment;<\/li><li>Great collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills;<\/li><li>Production experience with AWS;<\/li><li>Strength in system design and debugging with advanced deductive reasoning;<\/li><li>Previous startup experience preferred;<\/li><li>Product mindset \u2013 we\u2019re a product company on a mission to&#8221;advance how people work\u201d<\/li><li>Able to operate a
