Description:
This position involves working on a stepdown unit with a mix of cardiac and medical patients.
The unit typically comprises 24 to 25 beds.
Patient types may include those post CABG, lung surgeries, PCI, AICD placement, TAVR, and other cardiac conditions.
Medical stepdown patients may include those experiencing respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and complications post-surgery or cardiac cath interventions.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4.
Required skills include titrating cardiac and insulin drips, managing chest tubes, central lines, drains, and providing wound care.
Experience with cardiac skills such as managing venous sheaths and temporary pacemakers is preferred.
Support on the unit includes nursing technicians and a charge nurse.
Charting will be done using an EMR system.
The nurse will work a mandatory rotation that includes every other weekend and will have a designated holiday schedule.
Scrub colors and attire guidelines are specified for the role.
