The Sales Teammate position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, Sales Teammates perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by Store Management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities).

For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales.

Sales Generation and Guest Service

Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.

Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs and desires.

Anticipate and fulfill guests’ needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe‑like experience.

Demonstrate product using product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with teammates.

Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.

Remain consistent on personal sales, seeking opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).

Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.

Provide legendary service throughout the store in the Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area.

Help guests try on or fit merchandise.

Prepare merchandise for alterations.

Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty initiatives.

Place special orders or call other stores to find desired merchandise.

Maintain knowledge of Buckle’s customer service expectations to meet guest needs.

Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development

Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, e‑mail referrals, and Teammate Recommend.

Maintain a professional and respectful attitude, fostering a positive floor culture.

Present merchandise to maximize sales and optimize merchandise turnover.

Work with teammates and guests to identify product improvements, new product ideas, and feedback.

Ensure the sales floor is consistently styled and new freight is appropriately displayed.

Operations

Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and days around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Open and close cash registers, use magnetic card readers, count money, handle charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balance cash drawers, and make deposits.

Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle them.

Follow Loss Prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks.

Apply all payment, exchange, and loss prevention policies.

Perform merchandising tasks such as handling freight, re‑merchandising, preparing displays, markdowns, and transfers.

Keep the store clean, organized, and shoppable.

Provide feedback to Store Manager and Leadership Team on merchandise handling concerns.

Communicate policy violations and teammate or guest concerns confidentially to Store Manager, District Manager, or Human Resources.

Apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies and handbooks.

Contribute to a positive team spirit while performing duties with high customer service.

Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

No prior experience or training required.
