RN OR - Night Shift Baylor Scott & White Temple Operating Room Nurse Position

Assess patient's condition before surgery. Ensure that the operating room is prepared with all necessary supplies, implants, instrumentation, and equipment. Keep the operating room sterilized. Pass medical instruments to the surgeons during operation. Monitor patient's vital signs. Evaluate postoperative patients. Reviews charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards.

Our team is training in each of our 13 different specialties (robotics, ortho, spine, neuro, cv, general/bariatrics, gyn, plastics, surgical oncology, urology, ENT, transplant). We provide additional training for our neuro and cardiac teams. We do a variety of open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures in multiple service lines. We do multiple laser and microscope procedures. 33 operating rooms, 3 hybrid rooms used for neurovascular and vascular procedures. 4 Davinci robots, 2 Mako robots, and 1 Ion. We have excellent teamwork and collaboration among nursing staff, surgeons, residents and anesthesia. We provide incredible care to our patients and get to be part of fascinating surgeries that are life changing for some of our patients. We have a great team environment, and everyone works together to ensure our patients have a great surgical experience.

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional. The RN uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses. The RN develops and implements an individualized care plan and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs. The RN helps patients transition through healthcare without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, patient condition, and employee competencies.

Knowledge and expertise of nursing and patient care standards and procedures. Know laws, rules, and regulations. Understand standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies. Follow hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies, and procedures for nursing care in the assigned area. Knowledge of medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention and management. Understand medications, common dosages, effects, and possible adverse reactions. Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing. Social skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Observe changes in patients' medical conditions and communicate them to nursing staff and physicians/providers. Provide age-specific, quality, patient-centered care through the nursing process and standards. Respect the diversity of human experience. Develop, evaluate, implement, and modify patient care plans as needed. General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of OR Nurse Experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
