Travel Nursing Job Details
Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130

12-hour day shifts

Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)/cardiac stepdown

Patient Population: Cardiac, telemetry, medical-surgical, neurological, and cerebrovascular accident (CVA)/stroke patients

Weekend Requirement: The unit typically schedules approximately two out of three weekends per month, based on operational needs

Holiday Requirement: Must work at least one major holiday, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience in an intermediate care, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or comparable acute-care setting

Active Virginia or compact Registered Nurse license required by the start date

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Charge nurse experience preferred; willingness to assume charge responsibilities after appropriate training is required

Cerner electronic medical record experience preferred

Strong patient assessment, cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, prioritization, and care-coordination skills

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to IMCU and cardiac stepdown patients with varying levels of acuity

Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, telemetry, neurological, stroke, and medical-surgical diagnoses

Perform ongoing nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly escalate concerns

Administer medications and treatments while following evidence-based nursing standards and patient-safety practices

Interpret telemetry findings and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes

Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and continuity of care

Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned following training and orientation

Contribute to a supportive learning environment for nursing students and new team members

Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
