Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every-other-weekend requirement
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 33-bed, all-private-room Ortho-Neuro unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
Care for patients presenting with elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures, and neuro-surgical cases including back and neck procedures, as well as general medical-surgical diagnoses
Manage IV fluids and PCA pumps ; titration of drips is not required on this unit
Collaborate with Patient Care Techs (PCTs) who assist with vitals, blood glucose monitoring, ADLs, and Foley catheter discontinuation
Coordinate with Respiratory Therapy for patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, or High Flow oxygen as needed
Utilize Epic EMR for all documentation and patient management
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure (or compact equivalent) in good standing
Epic EMR experience required
BLS certification (must be current/unexpired)
Demonstrated experience caring for orthopedic patients and managing PCA pumps
Ability to float to other MedSurg units as needed; travelers are first to float
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in a neuro-surgical or combined ortho-neuro care setting
Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring workflows (strip reading not required of RNs on this unit)
Ability to adapt to variable staffing and scheduling needs, including potential holiday coverage
