Power Engineering

Our client, and Engineering consulting firm, is seeking a direct hire Power Engineer to join their team. As a Power Engineer, you will be part of the Power Engineering team supporting high-voltage substation and transmission line design work for Oil & Gas and Industrial clients. Power Engineer

Pay Range: $125000 - $160000 base DOE plus bonuses, benefits, etc.

Create general arrangement layouts, equipment plans, sections, elevations, and foundation interface drawings, including conduit plans, cable schedules, trench details, and control building layouts.

Produce grounding-related deliverables such as ground grid layout drawings, grounding connections, and support implementation of grounding studies.

Support transmission line design by creating plan & profile drawings, structure loading trees, structure framing drawings, and sag-tension modeling (PLS-CADD preferred).

8–10 years of electrical design experience in high-voltage (HV/EHV) substations and Medium Voltage and transmission line (TL) projects.

• Strong knowledge of 115–500 kV substation design, including equipment layouts, one-lines/three-lines, control and protection schematic drafting, grounding plans, lighting, conduit/cable routing, and bus layouts.
• Demonstrated experience preparing plan & profile, structure lists, sag-tension, and conductor selection for TL projects (PLS-CADD preferred).
• Proficiency with industry CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SDS – Substation Design Suite, and PLS-CADD/PLS-Pole/PLS-Tower (preferred); Revit is optional but beneficial.
• Working knowledge of line and station equipment (breakers, switches, CCVTs, CTs/PTs, wave traps, line terminals, insulators, arresters, structures, foundations, trenching, grounding) and the ability to interpret engineering sketches, specs, and vendor drawings.

Clear standards-driven work with structured QA/QC checkpoints (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) and design checklists/templates.

Hands-on collaboration with electrical, civil/structural, permitting/environmental, and procurement/vendor stakeholders.

Weekly touchpoints with the project team to align on priorities and deliverables.
