Wastewater Treatment Division Custodian
This recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Custodian positions at the South Treatment Plant for Career Service vacancies within the Wastewater Treatment Division over the next six months. The Wastewater Treatment Division transforms wastewater into valuable resources for the King County community. The primary function of the Custodian is to maintain the cleanliness of interiors and exteriors of various office and industrial facilities at South Plant.
South Treatment plant is part of King County's regional wastewater system and serves south King County. The facility is nationally recognized for its award-winning design and its consistent compliance with state and federal discharge limits. The South Treatment plant strives to engage communities and address the needs of priority communities that they identify for themselves in support of the Division's mission to protect public health and water quality. Our group focuses on equity and social justice and makes this a priority in all our work. The plant also serves as a worksite for construction management personnel and administrative staff. It has a diverse workforce dedicated to supporting the mission of the Wastewater Treatment Division by safely operating and maintaining the facility to comply with environmental regulations.

Strip, wax and scrub various types of floors; Clean, stock and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and public spaces including tables, chairs, toilets, showers, sinks and walls.
As directed, mix and use cleaning solutions and chemicals.
Request and stock various types of supplies.
Monitor and report any building, equipment, or safety issues to staff.
Support grounds maintenance including litter pickup and occasional outdoor tasks.
Clean glass windows and surfaces
May research and prepare bid specifications for cleaning equipment and supplies.
Knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning techniques.
Knowledge in the use and care of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals.
Ability to work effectively with others in a work environment that embraces and encourages diversity in its workforce and where differences are valued.

One (1) or more years of recent professional industrial cleaning/janitorial work experience

Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
Union Representation : This position is represented by S.Incumbents performing field work must be able to lift 50 lbs.
