Facilities Technician
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings of the College.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform building maintenance as needed.
• Work in all College plant areas during emergencies.
• Maintain sewage and water distribution systems; repair leaks, broken mains and pipes, valves, pumps, motors, filtering equipment, and related mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment parts of the systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning equipment: change filters, belts and clean coils.
• Install and maintain water and gas lines, replace commodes, lavatories, sinks, urinals, showers, dishwashers and drinking fountains.
• Install conduit and electrical wiring for plugs, switches, lighting fixtures and appliances.
• Perform preventative and emergency repairs on a wide range of Facilities Operations equipment.
• Monitor operations of equipment for efficiency and safety.
• Install floor tile and suspended ceilings; repairs broken window glass; paint interior and exterior of buildings; repair or replace locks; repair roofing; erect and repair chain link fences.
• Erect stands, platforms and stages for events.
• Provide assistance in grounds maintenance as needed.
• Serve on committees as assigned.
• Ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director and/or Assistant Facilities Director.

Other Specific Qualifications/Requirements of the Job:

• Ability to work non-standard hours as needed.
• Ability to schedule and conduct work independently.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional plant maintenance.
• Valid drivers' license and insurable
• Ability to obtain OSHA10 (Construction) Certification Course within the first 6 months of employment

POSITION AVAILABLE: July 2026 SALARY: Salary Schedule E3 03 $45,220-$62,710 based upon the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience.
