We are looking for an Electrician Trainee to grow with us, develop hands‐on expertise, and build a rewarding career in the electrical trade.

You will gain the skills and on‑the‑job training hours needed to earn your Journeyman Electrician license and advance your career.

Install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair low voltage electrical utility systems operating at less than 600 volts

Determine jobsite work sequences and safety procedures, procure materials, and coordinate outages

Place systems back into service after maintenance and verify proper operation

High school diploma or GED

Completion of an approved Post Secondary Electrical Program (PSEP) resulting in an Associate of Applied Science degree or qualifying electrical diploma

Department of Labor registered electrical apprenticeship program and current eligibility to sit for the Journeyman Electrician licensing exam

For candidates entering through the Post Secondary Electrical Program pathway, ability to complete the required 6,000 documented on‑the‑job training hours within the applicable four‑year eligibility period established by the Iowa Electrical Examining Board

Ability to meet applicable State of Iowa requirements for Journeyman Electrician licensure

Experience in construction, maintenance, or skilled trades is preferred, particularly within utility, power generation, industrial, or similar environments

Working knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, troubleshooting methods, and industry‑standard tools used in the electrical trade

Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, utility standards, safety programs, and safe work practices

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, vendors, contractors, and customers

Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully complete ENGIE’s required Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review for operation of company vehicles

This is a full‑time, on‑site position. Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

This position consists of 30% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

Ability to use computers, calculators, and standard business software applications

Ability to hear alarms, recognize changes in equipment operating conditions, and communicate using portable radio equipment

Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and work safely in a variety of environments, including confined spaces, elevated work areas, excavations, and outdoor conditions

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, fall protection equipment, hard hats, safety footwear, eye protection, and other safety equipment as required

A clear career path from Trainee to licensed Journeyman Electrician, with promotion to Electrician I upon licensure

Hourly Range: $24.38 - $40.58 USD hourly
