Your Role on the Team The Nurse Practitioner I in the Department of Neurology works in the Cerebrovascular and Neuro-Hospitalist Division under the supervision of an Attending Faculty and applicable policies. The NP participates in comprehensive care of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings, providing multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. The NP is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience to provide care in their area of specialization in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment. The position is based at the Irvine Hospital site.

Functions as appropriate to their scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and procedures per approved standardized procedures. The NP may provide patient care in age groups based on educational preparation and at all Health licensed settings and affiliates.

The NP has responsibility for standards of care for their specified patient population and demonstrates self-direction and accountability for quality of care and professional development within all Health locations and affiliates.

Advanced Practice Practitioners (APP) must be credentialed to practice and privileged through Medical Staff before the first working day; credentialing and approval of privileges must be completed prior to start.

The NP is accountable to, evaluated by, and receives feedback from supervising or collaborating physicians, physician designees, or the Administrative Manager.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.

Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with physicians, nurses, other health professionals, administrators, and law enforcement as needed.

Customer service skills appropriate to the job.

Clear communication of medical information to a broad audience in person and by telephone.

Ability to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data, and progress notes; Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.

Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.

Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.

Two or more years\' experience working in Neurology.

Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
