Phlebotomist - Nursing Home - Emergency Relief

Schedule: PRN (as-needed). Job Summary And Qualifications The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.

You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.

You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.

You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.

You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

Will work closely with Nursing staff.

What Qualifications Will You Need: Graduate of Phlebotomy Course/Program required.

Phlebotomy certification highly preferred, but can obtain once hired.

MINIMUM 8-10 sticks per hour.

Must have open availability for weekends for PRN.

Hospital experience is highly preferred.

Phlebotomy internship desirable.

Larger facility experience desirable.

Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
