Teaching Faculty Positions - Instructors

Position Overview
Marquette University’s College of Education is hiring a mentor/supervisor for summer reading instructors in the Tragil Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program. The role involves supervising structured literacy instruction during the standard program day and supporting instructor development.

Responsibilities

Supervise structured literacy instruction during the standard program day.

Observe and provide instructional feedback to supervised instructors.

Evaluate instructor performance.

Maintain accurate records and communicate with Marquette faculty about instructor performance.

Remain current with new trends and developments in literacy.

Observe, coach, and instruct reading instructors in the summer program under the direction of the Director of the Hartman Literacy and Learning Center.

Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning reading instructor/pre‑service educator accountability, attendance, and performance.

Maintain regular communication with Marquette faculty and administrators about instructor/pre‑service educator performance.

Demonstrate a student‑oriented approach to education.

Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Master’s degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree and Reading Teacher License (316).

At least three years of K‑12 teaching experience.

Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.

Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.

Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.

Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter, including current instructional and assessment strategies and techniques.

Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.

Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K‑12 school personnel and students.
