ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
Documents according to standards of care.
Develops, initiates and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
Uses available resources to teach and support patient and family education, providing education at the appropriate level of understanding.
Actively resolves systems breakdowns and engages self and others in providing solutions.
Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance.
Applies clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
Employs critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, escalating issues to the appropriate chain of command.
Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit/department practice activities and decisions, and peer review process.
Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
Engages in personal development and supports system-wide opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence‑based practice guidelines.
Completes 10 hours of continuing education in Illinois, as required for licensure.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.
May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines).
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
Other certifications per department requirements, for example:
ACLS
PALS
PEARS
NRP
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (where applicable).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
Must be able to follow written or oral instructions.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
May include color blind test (per department guidelines).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Neonate (birth – 28 days)
Infant (29 days – Pediatric (1 year – 12 years)
Adolescent (13 years – 17 years)
Adult (18 years – 64 years)
Geriatric (65 years and older)
INFORMATION ACCESS
Partner may access patient care information needed to perform job duties.
WORK CONTACT GROUP
Partners, physicians, patients/family, visitors, vendors.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
PAY RANGE
$31.21 - $46.81
