Hospital Transporter, Full-Time

Position Summary

Full-Time Opening(s) Position Summary: Transports patients to and from a variety of locations within UMC. Other duties include running errands and changing oxygen tanks.
Job Requirement
Education/Experience: Graduation from High School or GED. Licensing/Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Additional Position Requirements

One (1) year RECENT DOCUMENTED (within the past five (5) years) Patient Transporter experience.
Recent documented Patient Transporter experience, in an acute care or hospital setting.
Availability to work ALL shifts, including graveyard, seven (7) days a week, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of: Department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures. Skill in: Applying CPR; following oral and written instructions; applying proper lifting techniques; using equipment such as radios, battery chargers, gurneys, carts and wheelchairs; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Strength, mobility and stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; vision to read printed instructions and labels; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person, over the telephone, and over a two-way radio; exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
