Quality Engineering Senior

Eaton’s IS AER FMC Aerospace division is currently seeking a Sr Supplier Quality Engineer.

Expected annual salary range: $99,000 - $115,000.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. On-site Monday-Friday. No relocation assistance. Only candidates within 50 miles of the Los Angeles facility considered. Must be a U.S. person; ITAR compliance required; no sponsorship.

Position Overview

The Sr Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for driving supplier improvements in the areas of Quality, Delivery, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives, consistent with Eaton Aerospace requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage supplier nonconformances (MRB, escapes, deviations)

Drive root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)

Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Support containment planning and risk mitigation

Track supplier KPIs: Quality (PPM, defect rates), Delivery, Cost of poor quality (COPQ)

Maintain Approved Supplier Lists (ASL)

Conduct supplier risk assessments and performance reviews

Support supplier selection during sourcing and NPI

Oversee and participate in the development and initiation of inspection, testing and evaluation techniques for incoming goods

Evaluate inspection techniques and recommend changes

Work with Production, Quality Assurance, Materials and other departments to define quality standards and procedures

Review and analyze inspection test results and oversee the disposition of unaccepted items with affected suppliers and companies

Analyze supplier performance both in-house on supplier premises as required

Apply standard statistical techniques to analyze and evaluate studies

Team with suppliers to define and document Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, AIAG Process Control Plans and Inspection plans

Negotiate with suppliers to find equitable solutions to identified problems

Visit supplier locations to evaluate quality standards and processes

Answer technical questions regarding commodity quality, long-term feasibility or quality certifications

Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality system surveys

Implement and oversee the administration of special programs to recognize suppliers who maintain quality, reliability, and price standards

Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding significant changes

Control nonconforming material in accordance with Eaton procedures

Flow down external/internal quality requirements to suppliers

Support continuous improvement initiatives

Support internal audit requirements in accordance with Eaton procedures

Achieve objectives as detailed by Quality Management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Minimum three (3) years of Supplier and/or Quality Engineering experience working with quality systems

ITAR compliance: must be a U.S. person and authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

No relocation benefit; only candidates within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA considered (Active‑Duty Military Service member candidates exempt)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Aerospace and/or Automotive suppliers

Experience using SAP

Experience with complex machining suppliers

Experience with special process suppliers (Heat Treating, Plating, Painting)

Familiar with major Aerospace primes Quality System and working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9001:2016

Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean tools

Position Success Criteria

Significant experience with Supplier Performance Management, Supplier Corrective Actions and Nonconforming Material Dispositions, and MRB

Experience with Dock-to-Stock and Skip-lot Programs

Experience with Supplier Improvement Programs and Supplier Quality Plans

Willingness to travel locally and nationally to supplier sites
