K&A Engineering Consulting is a privately held company providing consulting, engineering and design services to power utility and industrial clients, specializing in substation, transmission, distribution, distributed energy resources, and EPC services.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Engineer to join our team at K&A Engineering in Oakbrook, IL. In this role, you will work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors.
Detailed design of Electrical Engineering - Includes conceptual design and detailed estimates
Substation Design - creation of substation construction drawing packages, development of bill of materials, and procurement of minor materials
General arrangement/physical and electrical layout, electrical equipment plans, elevation & section views (including transformers, bus work, etc.)
Rigid bus calculations
System Protection & Control (SP&C) Design - creation of SP&C construction drawing packages and procurement of materials
Materials shall include relays, communication and monitoring systems, panel meters, control house panels, cables and associated wiring materials.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university
5-10 Years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities
Experience and/or knowledge with power analysis software is ideal (e.g., Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Must be able to report to the office and visit worksites as needed
