Everything in between happens on the warehouse floor — and that is where the Warehouse Associate - Warehouse Operations works. This role keeps inventory accurate, locations reliable, and product ready to move the moment an order calls for it.You pick accurately, replenish before a location runs dry, count what is on the shelf, and step in wherever the branch needs you — at the receiving dock, on the shipping floor, or in the aisles. When the floor is right, every other part of the branch runs on inventory it can trust. When it is not, the error surfaces at the worst possible moment — in front of a customer. This role is for someone who is steady, flexible, and accurate, who fills the gap without being asked, and who understands that a well-run warehouse floor is what keeps every Shepherd promise moving. **Work Shift and Hours:*** Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm**Compensation Details:*** The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $20.00 per hour depending on experience. **How This Role Connects to Our Compass*** **We Keep Our Promises:** Every pick, count, and bin location you touch backs up a promise Shepherd made to a customer. When the system and the shelf agree, contractors get what they need when they need it.* **You surface the pattern, suggest a better layout or a smarter replenishment habit, and keep looking for ways to make the floor run cleaner.* **We Grow Together:** You are the connection between receiving and shipping. You help move freight off the dock, keep pick locations stocked for outbound orders, and pitch in wherever volume spikes. Ownership on the warehouse floor means the next person can trust what you left behind.* **We Go Above & Beyond:** You replenish the pick face before it runs empty, cover the dock when shipping or receiving falls behind, and leave your area better than you found it. You see where the branch needs help and you get there first. **Order Picking & Fulfillment Support*** Pick orders accurately from bin locations and confirm every pick against order documents — right product, right quantity, every time* Support the shipping team by staging picked orders cleanly and on time, especially priority and will-call orders* Support the receiving team by unloading, staging, and moving inbound freight safely off the dock* Shift between picking, receiving, and shipping tasks as volume and priorities change throughout the day* Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager, shipping, and receiving on time-critical orders so nothing waits on the floor **Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counts*** Perform scheduled cycle counts and spot checks accurately, recording results promptly in the warehouse management system* Investigate and report count variances and location discrepancies before they cause pick errors downstream* Treat every inventory discrepancy as a signal, not an inconvenience — flag recurring problems to the Warehouse Manager for root cause review* Return mispicks, over-pulls, and misplaced product to the correct locations immediately **Put-Away, Replenishment & Location Integrity*** Put received product away accurately to the correct bin locations so it is pickable the same shift it arrives* Replenish pick locations from overstock before they run empty, so orders never wait on a bare shelf* Keep bin labels current and locations organized so product is easy to find and easy to count* Move damaged or unidentifiable product to the designated area and tag it, rather than leaving it in a pick location **Equipment, Safety & Facility*** Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and warehouse equipment safely and in compliance with Shepherd standards* Conduct pre-shift equipment checks and report maintenance needs before they become failures* Keep aisles, racking, and work areas organized, labeled, and clear of hazards — aisles open, product off the floor* Maintain safety compliance at your workstation and alert leadership to unsafe conditions immediately **Continuous Improvement*** Surface workflow friction, recurring pick errors, or slotting and layout inefficiencies to the Warehouse Manager* Cross-train on shipping and receiving functions to build team flexibility and cover wherever the branch needs it* Support onboarding of new warehouse team members by modeling accuracy standards and Shepherd values **What Success Looks Like**After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers:* Orders are picked accurately — right product, right quantity — every shift* Cycle counts are completed on schedule, and variances are reported the same day they are found* Pick locations are replenished before they run empty, and received product is put away the shift it arrives* Aisles and work areas are organized, hazards are addressed, and equipment is maintained every shift* You have surfaced at least one meaningful improvement — a slotting change, a replenishment habit, a count catch — in your first 90 days* Shipping and receiving can count on you when volume spikes, and the Warehouse Manager trusts that the shelf matches the system **Who Thrives Here**This role is a strong fit if:* You take ownership of accuracy without being reminded — you do not leave a discrepancy for someone else to find* You pay attention when the pace is high, especially on the details others rush past* You treat the warehouse floor like the foundation of inventory accuracy, not just storage space* You communicate clearly and directly — with your team, with shipping, with receiving* You stay flexible and steady when you are moved between tasks and priorities shift* You care about the work being right, not just done* You want to be part of a team that notices when you do the job well **Qualifications & Requirements*** High school diploma or equivalent required* Prior warehouse, inventory, or fulfillment experience preferred; motivated entry-level candidates will be considered* Forklift or pallet jack certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire* Familiarity with warehouse management systems and standard computer tools (Excel, email) preferred* Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and stand for extended periods* Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements **Why Join Shepherd Electric Supply*** Competitive hourly pay with opportunity for growth* Medical, dental, and life insurance* Prescription drug coverage* Paid vacation and personal time* 401(k) with employer match* Stable organization with over 130 years of industry leadership* A culture where reliability is noticed, ownership is rewarded, and people come first* A company scaling into new markets — with real paths to grow with it **Equal Opportunity Employer**Shepherd Electric Supply is an equal opportunity employer.
