Welder, Combination, Maintenance

This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter performing the following tasks:

Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials that require welding.

Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.

Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.

Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.

May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Participates in special projects, as required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: High School Diploma/GED Required Experience: 1+ years of related experience Location: On Customer Site US Citizenship Required

Required Certifications:

MIG which Aluminum GMAW Flux core FCAW carbon steel and stainless Stick weld carbon steel stainless SMAW

Preferred experience in TIG all metals GTAW, CUNI and copper/face feed Certification in Brazing.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $25.50 - $34.50. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Travel Required: 10-25%
