SRE Lead Architect || Location Albany, NY || Employment type - contract

We are seeking an experienced SRE Lead Architect to design and lead enterprise-scale reliability, observability, automation, and cloud infrastructure strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SRE practices, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management.

Define and implement SRE architecture, reliability standards, and engineering best practices.
Design highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud-native platforms.
Lead observability strategy using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or similar.
Architect and optimize Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure.
Drive automation for deployment, infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and operational processes.
Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, problem management, and disaster recovery initiatives.
Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Partner with development, security, architecture, and operations teams to improve application reliability and performance.
Mentor SRE/DevOps engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.

10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Architecture.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, and cloud-native architecture.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Expertise in observability, monitoring, logging, and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of SLO/SLI, SLA, error budgets, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Experience with incident management, RCA, disaster recovery, and high-availability architecture.

Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
Experience with service mesh, serverless, and event-driven architectures.
Knowledge of DevSecOps, security, compliance, and cloud governance.
